Insert and manage links

This article provides a series of how to's, on creating links to existing Contensis content, linking to external websites, creating email address links as well as producing and linking to page anchors.

Create a link to an external website

  1. Select the text that you would like to become a link.
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link icon in the editor toolbar, and the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will open.
  3. Select the URL link type from the dropdown list, the options in the dialog will expand.
  4. Enter the website address you'd like to link to into the URL Address textbox e.g. www.zengenti.com
  5. Click the Save button.
  6. The selected text will become a link to the Zengenti website.

 

Link to existing content in Contensis

Drag and drop content from the navigator panel

  1. Use the project explorer to locate the page or document you would like to create a link to.
  2. Select the text that you would like the page or document to be linked from.
  3. Place the mouse over the icon of the page or document in the project explorer, then click and drag the item onto the selected text.
  4. The selected text will then become a link to the item you dragged from the project explorer.

Use the CMS content link type

  1. Select the text that you would like to become a link.
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link icon in the editor toolbar, and the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will open.
  3. Select the CMS Content link type from the dropdown list, the options in the dialog will expand.
  4. Click the Browse button in the Select the Content Type container, the CMS Content Browser dialog box will open.
  5. Use the project explorer to locate the page or document you would like to link to, click the checkbox next to the item.
  6. Click the Save button, the CMS Content Browser dialog box will close.
  7. The Insert /Edit Link dialog box will be populated with the page you selected.
  8. Click Save, the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will close and the selected text will become a link to the content item you selected.

Note: To enable a link to an existing piece of content, the content must be approved and currently live.

 

Create an email address link

  1. Select the text that you would like to become an email link.
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link icon in the editor toolbar, and the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will open.
  3. Select the Email Link link type from the dropdown list, the options in the dialog will expand.
  4. Enter the email address you'd like to link to into the Email Address textbox for example 'sales@zengenti.com'.
  5. Enter a title for the link in the Title textbox for example 'Contact the Sales Team'.
  6. Click the Save button.
  7. The selected text will become an email link.

 

Removing a link from a page

  1. Click the link in the editor that you would like to remove.
  2. Click Unlink in the editor toolbar to remove the link from the page.

Alternatively

  1. Right click on the link you would like to remove, the editor context menu will appear.
  2. Click the Remove link button from the context menu and the link will be removed from the page.
