Insert and manage links
This article provides a series of how to's, on creating links to existing Contensis content, linking to external websites, creating email address links as well as producing and linking to page anchors.
Create a link to an external website
- Select the text that you would like to become a link.
- Click the Insert/Edit Link icon in the editor toolbar, and the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will open.
- Select the URL link type from the dropdown list, the options in the dialog will expand.
- Enter the website address you'd like to link to into the URL Address textbox e.g. www.zengenti.com
- Click the Save button.
- The selected text will become a link to the Zengenti website.
Link to existing content in Contensis
Drag and drop content from the navigator panel
- Use the project explorer to locate the page or document you would like to create a link to.
- Select the text that you would like the page or document to be linked from.
- Place the mouse over the icon of the page or document in the project explorer, then click and drag the item onto the selected text.
- The selected text will then become a link to the item you dragged from the project explorer.
Use the CMS content link type
- Select the text that you would like to become a link.
- Click the Insert/Edit Link icon in the editor toolbar, and the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will open.
- Select the CMS Content link type from the dropdown list, the options in the dialog will expand.
- Click the Browse button in the Select the Content Type container, the CMS Content Browser dialog box will open.
- Use the project explorer to locate the page or document you would like to link to, click the checkbox next to the item.
- Click the Save button, the CMS Content Browser dialog box will close.
- The Insert /Edit Link dialog box will be populated with the page you selected.
- Click Save, the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will close and the selected text will become a link to the content item you selected.
Note: To enable a link to an existing piece of content, the content must be approved and currently live.
Create an email address link
- Select the text that you would like to become an email link.
- Click the Insert/Edit Link icon in the editor toolbar, and the Insert/Edit Link dialog box will open.
- Select the Email Link link type from the dropdown list, the options in the dialog will expand.
- Enter the email address you'd like to link to into the Email Address textbox for example 'sales@zengenti.com'.
- Enter a title for the link in the Title textbox for example 'Contact the Sales Team'.
- Click the Save button.
- The selected text will become an email link.
Removing a link from a page
- Click the link in the editor that you would like to remove.
- Click Unlink in the editor toolbar to remove the link from the page.
Alternatively
- Right click on the link you would like to remove, the editor context menu will appear.
- Click the Remove link button from the context menu and the link will be removed from the page.
