Search and display blogs

This article will show you how to insert a web control into a page to display a search feature and list the resulting blogs on your website.

  1. Right click on your blogs folder and select New Content. The Create New Content window will appear.
  2. Click Web Page and then select your standard web page template, click Close.
  3. A new page will be created, give the page a title (eg. Blog-search) and click Save.
  4. In the editable area of the page, right click to bring up the contextual menu. Select Insert Webcontrol and make any changes needed to the web control settings.Click Save, then Submit & Approve.

Results Web Page

Browse to specify the URL of the page that will display the results returned by the search web control. When assigned, the path to the page will display underneath the buttons.

Results Control ID

Use this text field to set the ID of the control listing to target the search at if you have multiple listings on a single page. If you leave this property empty it will target all listing based controls on the page in question.

Number of Years to Show

Enter the number of years in the text field that you want the search to look through. The default value is 10 years.

Show Current Year

Checking this box will display the current year at the top of the Select Year dropdown.

Enable Keyword Search

Use the checkbox to toggle whether a search by keywords field will be displayed.

Enable Year Dropdown

Use the checkbox to specify whether a dropdown should show on the search page, that will display the number of years defined in the Number of Years to Show setting.

Enable Month Dropdown

Use the checkbox to specify whether a dropdown should show on the search page, that will display the 12 months of the year.
