Common web control settings

Category Display

Use the dropdown to choose from two display options; CheckboxList and Dropdown.

Date Format

Choose from dropdown options including Long Date, Short Date, and Year.

Data Filters

This setting allows you to specify the filters used on the data source of your content. Clicking Add Filters will bring up a new window where you can set custom filters using the Column, Type and Value options. Display Time

A checkbox allows you to toggle whether or not the time should be displayed and if so, using a Short Time or Long Time format.

Enable Animation

Tick the checkbox to display one item at a time in animated mode. If enabled, further options become available:

Animation Effect

Use the dropdown to select the transition effect that will be used when changing slides (e.g. fade, scrollup).

Animation Timeout

Enter a numerical value in this text field to set how long each slide is displayed for, in milliseconds.

Animation Speed

Enter a numerical value in this text field to set the speed of the transition between slides, in milliseconds.

Animation Slide Height

Set the height of the slide area in pixels by entering a value in the text box.

Enable A to Z Bar

A checkbox allows you to toggle whether or not an A to Z bar should be displayed. If checked, the Initial A to Z Letter text field will appear. Enter a value in the text field to determine if any letter should be the highlighted in your A to Z list and the results for that letter shown on the page when it loads. Any letters without corresponding content will be greyed out in the A to Z display.

Enable Categories

A checkbox allows you to toggle whether or not categories should be displayed.

Enable Description

A checkbox allows you to toggle whether or not a description should be displayed if entered in the description metadata field.

Enable Dynamic Folder Auto Filtering

Use this checkbox to enable dynamic folder auto filtering to web control specific structured content types within parent/ancestor folders enabled as dynamic folders.

Enable Lightbox

Use this checkbox to determine whether or not images are shown in a popup that users can navigate through (if more than one image).

Enable Location

This checkbox determines whether or not any entered location will be displayed.

Enable RSS/Atom

Use this checkbox to determine whether or not RSS and Atom web feed links are displayed.

Enable Title

A checkbox allows you to toggle whether or not a title should be displayed.

Enable Thumbnail

A checkbox allows you to toggle whether or not a thumbnail should be displayed and if so, what the Maximum Thumbnail Width and Maximum Thumbnail Height should be in pixels.

Heading

This setting is used to apply a heading level value from a dropdown selector (e.g H2, H3, H4)

Items Per Page

Use the text field to specify the maximum number of items that will appear on each page. If the number of items for display exceeds the value specified, then the paging bar will be visible.

Icon Display

Use the dropdown to choose from two options; Type and None.

Icon Position

This dropdown determines where the associated code for the icon/thumbnail is positioned – either before or after a heading tag in the html.

ID

All web controls must be assigned an ID/Name if not already assigned one by default. Enter a unique ID/Name in the text field that does not contain spaces i.e. ImageSlideshowGallery, not Image Slideshow Gallery.

Initial A to Z Letter

Enter a value in the text field to determine if any letter should be the highlighted in your A to Z list and the results for that letter shown on the page when it is loaded. Any letters that don’t have content behind them will be greyed out in the A to Z display.

Image Height

Enter a numerical value in this text field to define the maximum height of the image. Use the accompanying dropdown, to choose the unit type from pixels, points or percent.

Image Width

Enter a numerical value in this text field to define the maximum width of the image. Use the accompanying dropdown, to choose the unit type from pixels, points or percent.

Items Per Page

You can enter a numeric value in this text field to limit the maximum number of items to be displayed. If the number of items for display exceeds the value specified, then the paging bar will be visible.

Maximum Items

In this text field you can enter a numeric value to limit the maximum number of items to be displayed. The default setting is 0, which will display all returned results.

Maximum Thumbnail Width

Enter a numerical value in this text field to define the maximum width of the thumbnail image, in pixels.

Maximum Thumbnail Height

Enter a numerical value in this text field to define the maximum height of the thumbnail image, in pixels.

Enter your preferred wording in the link text field for users to select, to show more items.

No Results Text

Enter your preferred wording in the text field to be displayed, if there are no results.

Order by

You can programmatically set sort order by using the Order By textbox. This input expects simple SQL Order By statement based on property references or custom metadata values.

The following examples will get you started. The Order By part of the statement is implied.

Pager Position

This dropdown provides options that determine where the pager will be displayed such as Top and Bottom.

Razor View Item Template

Browse to set the Razor view item template location and override the standard web control settings. Creating a custom Razor view to use as your item template allows developers to use standard listing controls but use different HTML for the individual list items. You might want to do this to change the order in which data will render or to display custom metadata.

Render Mode

Use the dropdown to choose how your list will be displayed: Definition List, Unordered List and Ordered List.

Record Image Height

Enter a numerical value in this text field to define the maximum height of the record image, in pixels.

Record Image Width

Enter a numerical value in this text field to define the maximum width of the record image, in pixels.

Results Control ID

Use this text field to set the ID of the control listing to target the search at if you have multiple listings on a single page. If you leave this property empty it will target all listing based controls on the page in question.

Results Web Page

Browse to specify the URL of the page that will display the results returned by the search web control. When assigned, the path to the page will display underneath the buttons.

Show Email

This checkbox determines whether or not an email entered in the accompanying text field will be displayed.

Show Location

This checkbox determines whether or not a location entered in the accompanying text field will be displayed.

Shuffle DataSource

Use this checkbox to toggle randomising of the order that returned query data is displayed in on the results page.

Sub-Item Heading

Use the dropdown to set the sub-header level (e.g H2, H3, H4).

Theme

This dropdown specifies if a theme should be applied to the rendered web control, and if so which theme should be applied. By default the setting is simple.

Title

Enter the title of the content in the text field for it to be displayed out.

Title Enabled

This checkbox determines whether or not any entered title will be displayed and opens a text field for the title to be entered in, if ticked.

Title Text

Enter the title of the content text field for it to be displayed out.
