Placeholders in templates
Placeholders are editable regions of your templates. Everything outside a placeholder is only editable at the template level and anything inside a placeholder is editable at page level. This allows users to edit page content inside the WYSIWYG editor without being able to make any changes to templates.
- Open up a template you want to add a placeholder to.
- Place your cursor where you want the placeholder to be positioned. Click Insert Placeholder in the editor toolbar. A window will popup, this is where you will create the placeholder.
- Give the placeholder a name, and click Save.
- The window will close and the placeholder will have been added into the template. The placeholder is indicated by a green dashed box. You now need to click Save the template to ensure the placeholder is saved inside it.
Any text you type into the placeholder when editing a template will be shown as default text in the placeholder when editing a page with the template applied to it.
