News module overview

These web controls allow you to list your news articles in many different ways and in a variety of contexts. For more customisation and details of the other settings within this web control, you can refer to our common web control settings list.

News listing

The news listing is the standard way to display your news articles. This can be added to any template or web page just as any other Contensis web control can be. Like all listings with Contensis the news listing can be filtered using data filters or customised using a Razor view template.

Mini news listing

The mini news listing is designed for use on homepages, and will show the title and the strapline of the news article.

Mini and listing combo

The news listing and mini listing combo control allows you to output a news listing with the mini listing items displayed beneath it, all wrapped up in a single control.

News ticker

The news ticker allows the top x number of articles to scroll through the display window where x is the value specified in the Number of items option on the control options.

News search

The news search allows you to do a search on the news articles.

News archive

The news archive is a composite control consisting of the other controls combined.

Listing URL

This property is important, because it must be a page that contains one of the news listing controls. The text entered in the search will be sent to the listing page that you choose.

Target Control ID

This property defines which listing to target the search at if you have multiple news listings on a single page. If you leave this property empty it will target all listing based controls on the page in question.

No. Of Years To Show

The number of years to choose from in the Years dropdown of the Archive Search Control.
