Contensis is made up of 3 main components, which are:
The database is where all of your content is stored with the exception of images.
Content Editors will access the user interface through a standard web browser. The UI itself is a set of .NET files served by IIS.
There are a number of services that are installed by Contensis – each service has a specific task as detailed below:
Contensis Application Monitor Service
This service monitors third-party applications such as winword.exe for hung processes to ensure they don’t affect the publishing/indexing service.
Contensis Command Processor Service
This service executes out of process commands to off load work from other Contensis services. An example of this is generating thumbnails of webpages for use in reports and notifications.
Contensis Content Synchronisation Service
This service performs the synchronisation operations within Contensis.
Contensis Database Replication Service
This service replicates data between the Contensis database and the published website databases.
Contensis AD Synchronisation Service
This service is scheduled to synchronise Active Directory users into Contensis.
Contensis FTP Cleaner Service
This service ensures old or rogue files that are not present in Contensis are deleted from published websites.
Contensis Imaging Service
This service processes images added to Contensis, this service carries out actions such as renaming, moving and deleting.
Contensis Indexing Service
This service indexes content within Contensis to enable content searches.
Contensis Notifications Service
This service processes notifications generated within Contensis and sends emails to relevant recipients.
Contensis Publishing Service
This service publishes content authored within Contensis to published websites via FTP.
Contensis Quality Assurance Service
This service processes web pages to ensure compliance with WCAG recommendation of accessibility and W3C XHTML Standards.
Contensis Task Scheduler Service
This service runs general tasks at specified times or intervals. An example of a scheduled task is the Google Analytics data import.
Contensis Content Modification Service
This service runs tasks related to managed hyperlinks providing statistics on usage numbers for managed links.
