Breadcrumbs XML navigation

Right click within the working area of the page then select the following menu options:

Web Controls > Navigation > Breadcrumbs XML

CSS classes used by the control

If right clicking and viewing the properties of the control, it is possible to assign classes for the following:

  • Link Style (user assigned) 
  • Separator Style (user assigned)
  • Selected style (user assigned)

On a tags, classes of sys_0 & sys_t2 or similar will be assigned. sys_0 refers to a content type of webpage, and where t refers to template and the number(s) following relate to the content ID of the template that has been used to create the page.

Control settings

The properties for the control are set initially when inserting the control into the page. They can be amended at any later date by simply right-clicking on the control to display the Web Control Editor window. 

Link Style

(user assigned css style)

Separator Style

(user assigned css style)

Selected Style

(user assigned css style)

Append Current Page

Check to specify if the current page is to be appended to the Breadcrumbs.

Use Menu Name For Current Page

Check to use the menu name for current page 

Hide Folder Without Homepage

Check to specify if the control will show breadcrumbs which do not have homepages.

Root Folder

The root folder must also be assigned to the control by clicking on the Browse link and selecting the appropriate folder from the display.

Separator Symbol

Select from a drop-down list the type of separator required between links.

White Space Between Separators & Links

Choose if white space is required or not.


Each control must be named (the default name will appear as BreadCrumbsXML1).
